ABYC-safety handouts

ABYC has produced a boating safety checklist to identify the required and recommended safety items boaters need onboard. Copies of the checklist are available FREE to those who care about boating safety.  Click here to get up to 500 copies delivered free to your door to use at National Marina Day!  The pre-printed checklists were professionally printed on a high-quality, water resistant paper and measure 7.5” l x .3.5” w for ease of use. Summer Sailstice

Want to extend the National Marina Day celebration? Would your customers like another reason to hit the water? Now you can hold two events in June, designed to get beginners out on the water and encourage old salts to set sail. Promote Summer Sailstice (held June 21st  ) – a holiday just for sailors to be celebrated wherever you sail in the Northern Hemisphere. Sailors simply need to sign up at and then go sailing. The role for the marina is to let your customers (and the local media) know that you are supporting Summer Sailstice through these easy steps:

-          put the date on your marina Calendar

-          create a marina posting on the event website:

-          adapt copy from this page: to send a press release to your local media.

World Oceans Day

Both World Oceans Day and NMD  are events that celebrate how we rely on, and find joy in spending time around the ocean. World Oceans Day (June 8) is also about how we can give back to it and keep it healthy for future generations. Share information with NMD visitors on the value of the ocean and what they can do to protect it by using some of our products like  Dr. Seuss Activity Kit  fun activities from our educational partners at zoos and aquariums, and  Action Guides to make it  easy for individuals and organizations to take action on clean energy, marine debris and sustainable seafood.

ABYC-on-site safety checks

ABYC may be able to bring their in-water, on-board boat system checks to your facility for National Marina Day. During the checks, volunteer ABYC marine surveyors follow a suggested line item checklist with the captain on-board, educating the boater on areas including: Electrical, Fuel, Exhaust, Equipment, and Labels.  The boaters who attended these checks not only leave with information about the workings of their vessel, but with the peace of mind that they now know ABYC technicians can fix their boat right the first time by the standards it was built to.  Interested? Wear It promotional items

Most boaters know they’re required to have a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket on board for every passenger on their boat. Boating safety advocates recommend that all boaters and passengers not only have a life jacket, but ‘Wear It!’ at all times while boating. Help spread this message at your National Marina Day event by ordering brochures, stickers, flyers and other promotional items. The North American Safe Boating Campaign (Wear It) is a yearlong effort in the U.S. and Canada focused on spreading the message of boating safety and the critical importance of consistent life jacket wear each and every time on the water.
